Question 1

1. Is an Infiniti Q50 the same as a Nissan Skyline?

Accepted Answer

Yes, mechanically. The Q50 is sold in Japan as the Nissan Skyline, sharing the same platform, engine, and most trim levels under a different badge.

Question 2

2. Is the VR30 engine reliable in a used Infiniti?

Accepted Answer

Generally, yes, with regular servicing. It's the same engine family used in the current Nissan Z, so parts and expertise aren't hard to find.

Question 3

3. What does VC-Turbo mean on the QX50?

Accepted Answer

It stands for variable compression turbo. The engine adjusts its compression ratio automatically, balancing power and fuel efficiency depending on how you're driving.

Question 4

4. Is a used Infiniti cheaper to buy than the Nissan Skyline it's based on?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes, since the Infiniti badge carries less demand than the Skyline name domestically, especially outside Japan's collector market.

Question 5

5. Does Better Cars Japan ship the exclusive 400R trim?

Accepted Answer

Availability depends on current stock, since it's a limited trim. Request a quote and we'll confirm what's available.
